About Operation Locate Our Children
|
In the summer of 2002, Milwaukee and Wisconsin were stunned by the tragic story of a missing 7-year-old girl named Alexis Patterson. Alexis vanished on her way to school on May 3rd, and has yet to be found.
With very few leads or clues, Milwaukee residents volunteered days and weeks of time searching countless square miles on foot, bike, auto and even horseback. The community pulled together. Businesses, residents and volunteers distributed and posted more than 100,000 flyers with Alexis' picture. In our hearts we believe that Alexis Patterson is alive and ready to be found.
Motivated by this heartbreaking event, coupled with the realization that Milwaukee had 14 other children missing, a group of volunteers set out to create Operation L.O.C (Locate Our Children). Our goal is to make the community aware of the situation at hand and bring any missing child in our community safely home.
Mission Statement
To provide Stranger Awareness information, education and prevention resources to the youth and parents of our community. To act as a resource in the event of an abducted or missing child. To serve as a community reference point for information on issues related to child safety and abduction.
